Position Summary: 

The Business Development Officer position will assist in the expansion of the Equify Financial, LLC and Equify Business Funding brand that is realized through the generation of new asset based lending, ledgered asset based lending, and factoring facilities consistent with Equify Business Funding published credit policy, as well as initiating, and further developing and maintaining relationships with prospective clients, referral sources, and influence centers in a defined geographic territory.  Will help facilitate the onboarding procedure with prospective clients from the initial contact through the issuance of proposal letters, acceptance by the prospect, underwriting, execution of legal documents and the funding process.

Key Roles / Responsibilities

  • Establish network of contacts from which potential new customers can be sourced.  Market to current and potential referral sources including, but not limited to, the following:  Banks, CPA’s, Attorneys, Venture Capital Firms, Financial Firms, Business Brokers National Organizations.  Conduct cold calls to potential clients and referral sources to introduce company and available services.
  • Extensive travel with over 50% outside of the office expected.
  • Assist in qualifying prospects by reviewing all financial and non-financial information on the company and its owners.
  • Propose and assist in negotiation of the loan structure of new deals within acceptable guidelines.
  • Ability to close new business through interaction with senior leaders of companies with a variety of revenue ranges and financial sophistication.
  • Ensure all conditions of approval are satisfied.
  • Drive new opportunities through the business development process and CRM system.
  • Ability to cross sell multiple commercial product lines.
  • Conduct business that upholds a high level of ethical standard.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three (3) years of origination experience.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of marketing tools and methods, including mailings, telemarketing, and other forms of customer outreach.
  • Demonstrates ability to generate and close transactions in the $500,000 to $20,000,000 range, including direct origination with prospective clients.
  • Ability to interpret financial and budgetary documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; savvy use of tact and diplomacy when dealing with personnel and clients.
  • Presents a professional image to all customers referral partners.
  • Demonstrates strong decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships
  • Possess credit fundamentals within a banking, finance company, or asset-based lending environment
  • Inventory offering background
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully identifying and closing asset-based lending transaction directly with end users.
  • History of closing $5,000,000+ of new funds employed annually.
  • Knowledge of credit and credit scoring criteria.

 Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
  • Moves throughout the building to access files.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions. 
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions. 
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed. 
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
