Position Summary: This role is critical in supporting our structured equipment finance operations by conducting thorough inspections, evaluations, and appraisals of various types of equipment, trucks, and trailers. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in equipment management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently in both indoor and outdoor environments year-round.

Key Roles / Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive inspections of heavy industrial and agricultural equipment, trucks, and trailers to assess their condition, functionality, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Accurately document inspection results, including photos and detailed condition reports, and input findings into the company’s asset management software.
  • Assist in determining the value of equipment by assessing wear and tear, overall functionality, and market trends. Provide appraisals to support internal underwriting and financing decisions.
  • Support the management of equipment inventory, ensuring accurate records for all assets. Monitor equipment locations, maintain inventory logs, and participate in periodic audits.
  • Work closely with the sales, credit, and documentation teams to ensure accurate assessments of equipment for loan approvals and remarketing efforts.
  • Ensure all inspections and activities are conducted in accordance with safety protocols and industry standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in equipment management, inventory control, or appraisals, particularly within the auction or heavy equipment industries.
  • Mechanic experience is highly preferred, with hands-on knowledge of industrial, construction, and agricultural machinery.
  • Proficiency in using computers, with the ability to quickly learn new technology and software for inspections and reporting.
  • Familiarity with asset management software is a plus.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate and inspect large vehicles, machinery, and equipment safely.

 Working Conditions:

  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time. 
  • The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying. 
  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. 
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc. 
  • Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed. 
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet. 
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.   
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.   
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.   
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
