Job Title: Asset Manager

The Asset Manager will be responsible for overseeing the valuation, recovery, and remarketing of equipment. This involves managing valuations, reviewing inspection values, and entering data into the equipment management system. This role will also be responsible for creating loss trends and equity forecasting. The Asset Manager will work closely with the customer service department, supervise the inspection team, and manage special projects assigned to the department.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the valuation process of financed assets to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with market conditions.
- Approve inspected equipment values and maintain compliance with industry and company standards.
- Input and maintain accurate asset data within internal valuation tracking systems.
- Project end-of-lease values, create loss curves, and analyze asset depreciation trends to forecast equity or deficiency within deals.
- Assist in loss mitigation efforts and recommend disposition strategies for underperforming or at-risk assets. This will include collaborating with the marketing department to strategically plan and facilitate retail sales of recovered assets.
- Oversee the recovery and remarketing of equipment by evaluating asset condition and value, coordinating repairs, transportation, and storage, and determining optimal disposition strategies. This includes directing assets to auction, preparing them for retail sale, or facilitating maintenance to integrate them into the rental fleet.
- Develop and maintain relationships with dealers, auction houses, vendors, and end users to facilitate remarketing and redeployment opportunities.
- Provide ongoing reporting and analysis of asset utilization, residual values, and market trends to support data-driven decision-making.
- Work closely with the collections, credit, and legal teams to coordinate asset recovery and portfolio risk management efforts.
- Supervise special projects related to asset optimization, including collaboration with subsidiary companies and external remarketing resources.
- Ensure timely completion of audits and field inspections, providing insights into portfolio performance and market conditions.
- Provide guidance and oversight to the inspection team, ensuring high-quality evaluations and reporting.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- At least five (5) years of asset management in the commercial finance industry is required, logistics and/or inventory management experience is preferred.
- At least two (2) years of experience conducting or managing field inspections and audits is required.
- Some experience in a shop environment as a mechanic or similar role is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of equipment and machinery valuation methodologies and industry standards.
- Proficiency in using valuation software and other relevant tools is required.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in loss mitigation and development of best practices is highly desired.
- Strong organizational and project management skills and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are essential.
- Prior experience managing a team or providing guidance and direction.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
- Moves throughout the building to access files.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
