Position Overview: 

As a Senior Accountant with a focus on loan accounting, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate accounting and reporting of the company’s loan portfolios. You will be responsible for overseeing loan accounting processes, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with all accounting standards. This role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization’s financial reporting and operations. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the accounting for loans and other financial products, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review and manage loan origination, servicing, and payoff entries, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain loan amortization schedules, interest calculations, and other related reports.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual loan portfolio reconciliations and analysis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including loan-related disclosures, for management and external auditors.
  • Coordinate and manage year-end audits related to loan transactions and accounting processes.
  • Analyze loan performance, tracking interest income, principal payments, and adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with the lending team, senior management, and external partners to ensure smooth operations and clear communication regarding loan portfolios.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for loan-related assets and liabilities.
  • Stay current on accounting regulations, best practices, and industry trends related to commercial finance and loan accounting. 

  

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • At least five (5) years of experience in accounting, with at least three (3) years of experience in loan accounting or a related financial services field.
  • Strong understanding of loan accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and MS Excel (advanced functions).
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in commercial finance or lending industry a plus.  

 

Working Conditions:  

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 
  • Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.  \
  • Moves throughout the building to access files. 
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.   
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.   
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.   
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
